Cardi B & Quavo Share Heartfelt Tributes to Late Migos Rapper Takeoff
Family members, fellow celebrities and fans gathered to honor Takeoff at his funeral at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on Friday. Takeoff whose official name Kirsnick Khari Ball was an American rapper best known as a member of the trio Migos. He once collaborated with his uncle and first cousin and uncle Quavo to remove Offset.

The Migos rapper was fatally shot on November 1 at age 28. His memorial service, which was free and open to the public, featured speeches from his bandmates, Quavo and Offset. Although attendees were asked not to use their phones, short clips have circulated online of Quavo remembering his nephew and Offset praising his once-removed cousin’s flow.
Among the celebrities who were present was Cardi B, Quavo and Drake. They all detail their pain following the demise of Takeoff. In her Instagram post, Cardi B pen “THE IMPACT YOU HAD IN THIS WORLD WAS SO CONSIDERABLE AND WE HAVE STRUGGLED TO GRASP THIS TRAGEDY, I AM HEARTBROKEN BUT I AM GRATEFUL FOR ALL THE PRECIOUS MEMORIES.” THIS HAS TRULY BEEN A NIGHTMARE AND THE PAIN IS INCOMPARABLE.”

Cardi B is married to TakeOff cousin Offset. She goes ahead to state “I BELIEVE THAT ANGELS SEND SIGNS AND BEAUTIFUL DREAMS TO LOVED ONES. “
Drake who previously toured with the Migos, also took the stage to speak about his late friend. The service was billed as a celebration of life, and included musical performances from Chlöe Bailey, Justin Bieber, Yolanda Adams, and Byron Cage. During the ceremony, Atlanta mayor Andre Dickens presented Takeoff’s family with the Phoenix Award, the city’s highest honor.

Many celebrities came to the service to pay their last respects including Cee-Lo Green, Rich the Kid, Mustard, Gucci Mane. In addition to his memorial speech, Quavo made a post on his Instagram Saturday morning to memorialize his nephew. Quavo posted “QUITEST IN THE ROOM BUT PAID ATTENTION TO EVERYTHING GOING ON IN THE ROOM. NEVER RAISED HIS VOICE AND WHEN HE DID HE SILENCED THE ROOM BECAUSE WHAT TAKE SAID WAS LAW. NOW I FINALLY GET IT. YOU ARE OUR ANGEL WATCHING US THIS WHOLE TIME IN LIVING FORM.”

He remembered what it was like growing up with Takeoff and how they were “always on the same team.” The rapper recalled his nephew’s sense of humor and his quiet but powerful demeanor. Quavo also noted that it was Takeoff’s idea to start making music. He also remembered “Throughout this whole time he had a REAL passion for music,”.
