Idle politicians stop meddling with the Judiciary – Alfred Mutua
Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has requested idle politicians to stop meddling with Judiciary matters. His request is directed to Dp Ruto’s allies and the entire UDA brigade who threw their guns at Judiciary. Ruto’s allies expressed their discomfort yesterday in public during the Rift valley tour in Nandi county. They want the Chief Justice Martha Koome to stop sitting in the elections planning committee but the constitution gives her the mandate to sit in the committee. Those who called on the Chief Justice to step aside include Garissa Township member of parliament Aden Duale and Kipchumba Murkomen.
Yesterday, UDA secretary general Veronica Maina told CJ “You Martha Koome have no role whatsoever in election planning and your participation is similar to allowing a judge to prepare submissions fro a client in readiness for a trial only for the same judge to sit, hear and determine the case.” The UDA party said CJ’s involvement puts Judiciary on a conflict of interest path and it dilutes the principle of good governance.
Today during the Devolution conference Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has directed his request to those idle politicians against attacking the Judiciary and meddling on their matters. Mutua said “I want to request idle politicians to stop meddling with the Judiciary and stop attacking our able, super woman Chief Justice Martha Koome…” He says the CJ is in the steering committee that is planning the elections not how elections will be done or oversee the elections. She is there in her own right as the chief justice planning things that need to put in place before the elections as the chairperson of the national council on administration of justice.
Mutua also added when David Maraga was the chief justice and chair of the national council on administration of justice, he sat in the committee the same one Martha Koome sits in. On his twitter account mutua posted “Politicians, stop BULLYING @CJMarthaKoome. When CJ Maraga participated in the Elections preparedness committee, they said NOTHING. Koome is there as chair of the National Council on the Administration of Justice. They should STOP attacking her because she is a SUPER WOMAN CJ.”
According to Mutua, when Marage attended those meetings the same politicians never said anything. Now that the person sitting on that committee is a woman, they think can bully her or scare her. He told them to stop interfering with the judiciary matters and leave her to do her work as mandated by the constitution. Perhaps they have sensed defeat that’s why they are complaining and attacking the CJ.
