Monday declared a public holiday – Kenya government

The Kenya government has today 6th October 2021 declared Monday 11th October 2021 a public holiday. The declaration was announced by the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government. According to the Ministry, the public holiday will be called Utamaduni Day which will fall on a Sunday 10th October 2021 hence will be shifted to a Monday since it will fall on a weekend.

The Ministry’s statement reads “Whereas this day is already conferred by law, this shall be the first time that Utamaduni Day is observed in Kenya and this press release serves to
emphasize the need for all citizens to recognize and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of Kenya in a manner that promotes unity, national cohesion and economic progress in the country,”
