Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has signed a contract with Barcelona on a free transfer. Talks had broken down between Barcelona and Arsenal over Aubameyang transfer despite the player arriving in the city on Monday morning. Ultimately the agreement was reached after the player agreed significant pay cut to facilitate his move.
The transfer anticipation began when Aubameyang was stripped off the captaincy in Arsenal through a disciplinary breach. By then had only 18 months remaining under his contract at Arsenal and the club is expected to spend around 25m euros in wages to move him permanently rather on loan.
Arsenal fans left frustrated after the club fail to replace him. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are left as the only remaining striking options of which both are out of contract during the summer. However, there are incoming requests for them to get excited elsewhere. The January transfer window is now closed.
