Reason why Uhuru snubbed DP Ruto during Madaraka Day programme
Many Kenyans have been left with raised eyebrows after President Uhuru omits Deputy President William Ruto during the Madaraka Day celebrations. In a normal setting of a national day celebration, the protocol involves the deputy president giving his remarks then invite the President to give his speech. Contrary to that, the President gave out awards to those who were recognized as have immensely contributed to the country’s progressive growth and jump straight to taking over the program.

From the programme as it was planned, Nairobi governor Ann Kananu was to welcome guests as the location of the celebration was within her jurisdiction. After Ann Kananu, the programmer welcomes the Deputy President to make his brief remarks then welcomes the President. The President before he makes his remarks, he first invites the invited guests which in this case was the visiting head of state of Sierra Leone.

There was notable dismissal of protocol after DP Ruto and other dignitaries failed to speak at Uhuru Gardens. A more raising eye-brows is the fact that Uhuru Kenyatta recognized other leaders and blatantly failed to recognize Dp William Ruto. He went ahead to recognize the speakers of both houses and Chief Justice Martha Koome. This is just a calculated sinister motive to evade mentioning or giving Dp William Ruto chance to make his remarks.

Inside sources said the President avoided following the protocol so as to deny Ruto the podium. The President would have been embarrassed from the cheerful Kenyans who would have lauded and give praises to Ruto after he is given chance to speak. As from the past celebrations and public functions, immediately Deputy President William Ruto is invited to the podium to make his remarks, Kenyans would cheer loudly and fail to reciprocate the same to the President.

Apparently, this is the reason Uhuru Kenyatta snubbed Dp William Ruto from the programme. The Deputy President is seemed to have gained a massive support from Kenyans and would likely vote for him to be the next President of Kenya. This is a fact that President Uhuru would not want to accept and would rather cut him down from giving the speech as he will just more salt to a wound.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is routing for Raila Odinga’s presidency and even during his speech, he recognized that women have been given more chances in government noting that the head of one arm of government(Judiciary) is headed by a woman. He also took a sneak peak of the August polls that Kenyans are likely to choose a woman deputy president(Martha Karua).
